Frequently Asked Questions

What is sea glass?

Sea glass is waste glass which has spent tens of years tumbling in the ocean until it has reached a smooth and rounded shape. Due to its nature, sea glass is considered to be trash, making it legal to collect from most beaches around the world (unless they're protected/private).

What is Pirate glass?

Pirate glass is a rare type of sea glass which looks black until held up the the light. Typically, the colour revealed by the light is a beautiful deep green, but it is possible to find it in red, blue, brown, and more. Pirate glass can be difficult to find as it easily camouflages with the rocks.

Pirate glass gets its name from its original use. Years ago, Pirates and Sailors alike would store their drink in dark coloured bottles to protect the contents from the sun during long voyages. Over time, these bottles have been broken up and tumbled by the waves to form the beautiful organic shapes we now turn into jewellery!

What is sun purple sea glass?

Sun purple sea glass started its life as white glass. During the 1920s, some manufacturers included manganese in the production of their glassware. Over many years, this glass has been exposed to a lot of sunlight and this is what has turned it a beautiful pale lilac purple. The more you expose this glass to UV light, the deeper the purple colour becomes!

Can I send you my sea glass to make something with?

Yes! Visit the Commissions page in the drop down menu for more information.

Do you do collaborations/PR?

No. As a small business run by one person, it isn't currently feasible to send out any jewellery for free.

Do you ship to my country?

At the moment, the countries we ship to are: United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland), USA, Norway, and Switzerland.

Due to the new regulations introduced by the GPSR, we are no longer able to ship to countries inside of the European Union. If you live outside of the EU and do not see your country listed, submit a contact form to request an updated shipping list.

The nature of sea glass means that every item created is totally unique so no two pieces will ever be identical. If you like a particular style of our jewellery but notice it is sold out, please feel free to reach out with a request. Alternatively, visit the Commissions page to create a custom piece based on your preferences.

Can I wear your jewellery in water?

All of our jewellery is made with 100% recycled 925 sterling and 999 fine silver. Therefore, it will not turn your skin green and is safe to wear in water. However, it is recommended that jewellery with silver backplates are removed to avoid water going in behind the glass and creating black tarnish marks on the silver which cannot be removed.

It is not recommended to wear gold filled jewellery in water.

Please see the jewellery care page for more information.
