Sustainability


Sustainability is a huge part of the Asperitas Jewellery ethos. We do all we can to keep our products as ethical and eco-friendly as possible, from sourcing materials to manufacturing the jewellery. Everything you receive in an order from us is recyclable or reusable. The goal is to have as little impact on the environment as possible!

  • Packaging

    All of the packaging used is ethically sourced and recyclable. Our tarnish resistant gift boxes are made from FSC certified card, water based glue, with an eco foam insert made from tall oil. Tall oil is a byproduct of paper production; recycled materials which are biodegradable and have zero plastic content.

    We supply all of our orders in hand-stamped organic cotton bags, use FSC certified tissue paper to protect the jewellery in transit, and seal our recyclable boxes with paper tape. We try to reuse packaging where possible so if you order three or more items, expect your parcel to arrive in a repurposed box.

    As of August 2025, the gift box inserts have upgraded to a recyclable foam and new ring boxes feature an FSC certified card insert.

  • Sea Glass

    Sea glass is waste glass which has spent tens of years tumbling in the ocean until it has reached a smooth and rounded shape. Due to its nature, sea glass is considered to be trash, making it legal to collect from most beaches around the world (unless they're protected/private).

    Collecting sea glass positively impacts the eco-system as it is removing man-made waste from the shores, creating a cleaner environment for ocean life to thrive.

    All of the sea glass we use is genuine and hand collected from beaches around the UK. Being based in Devon, the large majority of our sea glass comes from beaches on the South Devon coast and Cornish beaches. Of course there is the exception of the Seaham Collection which features glass from the North East of England and anything I have been gifted from friends and family.

  • Silver

    All of the silver we use in our jewellery is 100% recycled 925 sterling and 999 fine silver. Nothing goes to waste as any small scraps are melted down and turned into other projects such as the Nautical Stamp Studs and Nautical Charm Necklace.
